Job Description
What you will do
Hi, we are Swapfiets! 👋
Welcome to the world of worry-free biking! We are providing members an all-inclusive bike subscription with free repairs and maintenance and lead the movement to more liveable cities.
We are looking for a Project Buyer to join our Procurement team and help us build a strong, stable supplier base for our OTS (Off-The-Shelf) bike parts. It's a fairly independent role for someone with a genuine passion for bikes and a sharp eye for negotiation. Ready to help us pedal our procurement forward? 🚲 🚀
This role sits within our Finance team, working closely with our Innovation & Bike team, R&D, Supply Chain, and our partners at PON.bike.
Do you recognize yourself in this?
As our Project Buyer, you report to the Procurement Manager and are responsible for sourcing and securing OTS parts while maintaining strong supplier relationships. You bring order and structure to our supplier portfolio, negotiate confidently, and act as the link between Swapfiets and PON.bike's global procurement team. You're comfortable working in SAP S/4 Hana to keep our procurement data accurate and up to date, and you know how to translate that data into insights that help us make smarter sourcing decisions. You have a genuine interest in and knowledge of bikes and how they're built, and you're not afraid to ask critical questions, push back on suppliers when needed, and take ownership of a role that's still finding its shape within Swapfiets. You enjoy working independently, but you're just as comfortable building trust with stakeholders across R&D, Supply Chain, and our partners at PON.bike.
How you pedal us forward:
Ensure a stable relationship with all current and new-to-source OTS suppliers
Reduce our supplier footprint, working toward a stable, simplified portfolio
Select which OTS suppliers to onboard and negotiate pricing
Identify supplier risks and proactively source alternatives
Manage OTS parts samples and SAP data for new bike development, alongside R&D
Act as main point of contact between Swapfiets and PON.bike's global procurement team
Maintain accurate supplier and article data within SAP
Evaluate suppliers based on performance metrics
The gear you need:
HBO working and thinking level
1-3 years of relevant working experience
Strong knowledge of the bike industry, ideally bike parts and BOM structures
Preferably SAP experience for procurement data
Basic negotiation skills
Fluent in Dutch and English
Benefits for a smooth ride:
Salary starting from €3,856 p/m (excl. holiday pay), based on experience
Your own Swapfiets (lend-lease) 🚲!
32 vacation days (25 + 7 Swap days)
Solid pension plan and health insurance discount
Windows laptop and phone allowance
Travel allowance (11km+ from office)
Affordable lunch at the office
Urban Sports Club for Business access
L&D learning programs
One paid volunteering day per year
Ready for the Swapfiets adventure?
If you're a bike enthusiast with a sharp negotiating mind, we encourage you to apply and we'd love to meet you soon!
