Hence, we are looking for a Quality Manager who can bring Quality to the next level, including robust policies and measures in the field of Quality Assurance and -Control. 

This is a role for an individual who has min. 7 years of working experience, of which a significant proportion in the quality domain. Preferably, the work experience is gained in a production environment of a rapidly growing business.

You will play a critical role in a dynamic organization. In this role, you can make a significant difference, both for our members as for the Swapfiets teams and colleagues you interact with.


The Quality Manager is part of the Operations Leadership Team and reports directly into the COO. The Quality Manager is also part of the Global PON bike quality team, assuring we share and deploy best practices across the PON bike brands

What will you be doing? 

  • Drives the overall Swapfiets Quality strategy and -policies (QA+QC) focusing on the repair process and quality control of incoming bikes/parts;

  • Drives a culture of urgency around the topic of quality across all levels of the organization

  • Defines a robust process around spec setting and -monitoring, and constructively challenges the Product Innovation and Procurement in case of deviations from the standard;

  • Orchestrates cost-efficient incoming quality control processes for bikes and parts

  • Proactively analyses the repair-database to drive a strategy of continuous improvement in the repair process and quality of parts applied;

  • Helps drive bike lifetime optimization through proper life-cycle management;

  • Provides knowledge and tools to Operations to improve bike quality;

  • Responsible for coordinating activities to resolve (immediate) Quality Issues that arise in the Operations and provides feedback to relevant stakeholders;

  • Assures that there is  clarity around- and easy access to the relevant work instructions for mechanics;

  • Advices to improve efficiency in the repair process from a technical perspective;

  • Supervises and improves the functioning of Quality Controllers and -Trainers;

  • Defines the content and frequency of trainings offered to mechanics

  • Responsible for internal Quality Management System that complies with ISO:9001

Your profile

  • Academic thinking level;

  • Min. 7 years of working experience;

  • Relevant management experience in the Quality domain, preferably in a production environment;

  • Preferably a technical background;

  • Fluent in English and/or local language;

  • Relevant knowledge of (inter)national quality standards and legislation and regulations, including 1SO standards;

  • Strong and clear communicator;

  • Great team-player;

  • Demonstrates sense of urgency;

  • Not shy to timely escalate and pull a team together to address an immediate situation;

  • Capable of weighing the inputs and, sometimes conflicting, opinions from stakeholders to drive a robust strategy;

  • Decisive, experienced in taking decisions after alignment with stakeholders;

  • Balancing the “what we should do” and the “what we can do” as we operate within boundaries, financial- and people related;

  • Prioritizing skills in order to make sure we work on the right things first;

  • Preferably: experienced in managing work-instructions and fostering easy access to- and usage of these work instructions.
