As our Creative Copywriter, you’ll be at the heart of our brand’s storytelling, crafting compelling copy that engages, inspires, and moves people to take action. From witty ad campaigns to social media captions, from in-app messaging to impactful brand narratives, your words will bring Swapfiets’ mission to life.

As the Creative Copywriter at our Amsterdam HQ, you’ll balance strategic thinking with creative storytelling, ensuring our brand identity resonates from the streets of Amsterdam to Berlin and beyond. Your job? Go beyond just writing sentences, and build a voice that’s as clear and recognisable as our blue front wheel.
How you pedal us forward:
You will become a key part of our internal Creative Team, working alongside Graphic Designers, Content Creators, and Creative Project Manager. Next to that, you’ll:
Be responsible for all creative copy requests — from OOH advertising and digital ads to emails, social media, website content, and in-app messaging.
Craft compelling campaign concepts, taglines, and messaging frameworks that inspire engagement and drive measurable results.
Collaborate closely with designers to provide input on how copy is displayed visually, ensuring the marriage of words and design works in harmony.
Write SEO-optimised blogs and content that build brand awareness and effectively move customers through the consideration funnel.
Oversee multi-market consistency by translating, proofreading, and localising copy for all 8 markets, ensuring brand authenticity and resonance in every region.
Write scripts for video content, promotional materials, and internal brand storytelling that brings the Swapfiets mission to life.
Balance pure creativity with business goals, delivering storytelling that supports growth and scales the business.
Train and optimise internal GPTs on brand strategy and ToV to ensure automated outputs and translations remain high-quality and on-brand across all markets.
Work seamlessly with the Creative Team, Brand Managers and Channel Marketeers while also collaborating across departments (UX, Product Innovation, Customer Service) to ensure a unified brand experience.
Step in to support diverse projects beyond the page, including production for social content and campaign strategy execution.
Translate complex briefings into clear, well-thought-through copy, delivering high-quality work on time with minimal revisions required.
Guard the brand identity by ensuring all messaging is human, engaging, and consistent across every touchpoint.
Keep a finger on the pulse of cultural trends, language shifts, and storytelling formats to keep the brand fresh, relevant, and ahead of the curve.
The gear you need:
You have a way with words and a strong understanding of branding, marketing, and digital communication. Next to that, you bring:
A degree in Communications, Creative Writing, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in copywriting, preferably in a brand, agency, or content-driven environment.
Exceptional writing and editing skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
A portfolio that showcases your ability to write for different channels and audiences, from punchy ad copy to engaging brand storytelling.
The ability to adapt tone and style based on different platforms and audiences.
A creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
Strong collaboration skills—you thrive when working with designers, marketers, and strategists to bring ideas to life.
An understanding of SEO principles and how to craft copy that drives engagement.

As soon as we think: you've got what it takes to qualify for this position, our recruitment team will contact you to check some basic information and ask you about some of your previous successes related to the role.
Next, you will be invited for a first job interview with our Creative Lead (Aoife) and a member of our Creative Team.
The next step will be a ‘copywriting case’ so you can demonstrate your awesome skills.
In the second interview you will present your case and meet other peers in the Brand & Creative Team.
