We are Swapfiets; started in 2014 and currently active in nearly fifty cities, across four different countries. At our HQ in Amsterdam, we work with around a hundred colleagues to offer the very best user experience to our customers, who in turn receive epic service from a team of 1200+ swappers and bike mechanics.
In this role, you will be part of our newly-created Core Platform team, composed of one Tech Lead, two Back-end Engineers, and hopefully, you ;). You will have the challenge of being our first SRE, helping us define what this role means to Swapfiets.
What are you going to do?
Together with our Software Engineers, continuously improve our infrastructure focusing on stability, security, and scalability.
Be an internal evangelist of DevOps culture in our team (no gate-keeping of production).
Improve the observability and reliability of our systems, defining and implementing SLIs and SLOs.
Help our team improve our CI/CD, focusing on deploying code fast while mitigating risk.
Organize post-mortens, making sure we understand the root cause of outages and that we learn from our mistakes
Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
+4 years of experience as SRE or DevOps Engineer.
Expert knowledge designing and operating cloud-native applications.
Experience developing and managing applications on Azure.
Sufficient experience to leave your mark on a stable and secure cloud infrastructure and architecture.
The ability to encourage best DevOps practices.
Joy in giving demos, transferring knowledge, and mentoring junior colleagues.
Plenty of courage: you are not afraid to show entrepreneurship and take responsibility.
Excellent communication skills in English. Dutch is considered a plus.
A plus: Experience with Kubernetes (K8S) and infrastructure as code (IaC).
