Internship Sustainability

Netherlands, Noord-Holland, Amsterdam (HQ)Internships

Job description

Are you ready for your Swapfiets adventure?

Hi, we are Swapfiets! The bicycle subscription where you are always assured of a working bicycle. Our mission? Making cities more livable and sustainable under the motto 'buy less, use more'. Do you see a challenge instead of a problem? And are you ready for an acceleration in your career? Then you are ready for the Swapfiets adventure!

Your role

Our team is looking for a motivated intern to join the Sustainability Team from September. As our intern you will be part of the Sustainability team, where our role is to provide and lead sustainability initiatives. We share the right data, tools & insight to let other teams make the most sustainable decisions. Our work is across the complete organization, mainly together with our product, warehouse & operations teams, both at HQ and through all Swapfiets locations. The team includes a Sustainability Supporter, Sustainability Program Manager and the Sustainability Director (also one of our founders). Together we drive the sustainability goals throughout Swapfiets, such as 100% circularity and climate neutrality in 2025.

Your responsibilities

Our bicycles are at the core of our business and the heroes that provide our members with a healthy, affordable and sustainable mode of transport. Your main assignment during your internship will be to build the true sustainability story of our bikes of Swapfiets, supported by data. We would like to better highlight how many users our bikes generally have and what happens with our bikes throughout their lifetime. The goal is to increase the value our members (and members-to-be) see in used bikes (as opposed to a new bike) and to showcase and highlight the sustainability aspects of our subscription.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and owning the project plan

  • Defining the variables to take into account for the story of our bike

  • Involving different departments (e.g. marketing, tech, sustainability) in the project definition, planning, execution, completion and communication

  • Gathering and analysing relevant data

  • Choosing the format for delivery and implementation of the story (e.g. video material, visuals in stores, QR codes on bicycles)

  • Researching market trends on providing transparency about the impact & sustainability of products

  • Supporting our team on other running projects
